چکیده
purpose : to report a patient with urrets-zavalia (u-z) syndrome after penetrating keratoplasty (pkp) in both eyes case report : a 22-year-old woman with keratoconus associated with a central full thickness scar in both eyes underwent pkp in her right eye that was postoperatively associated with a fixed dilated pupil and severe fibrin reaction, posterior synechiae and mild anterior sub capsular cataract. however he developed fixed dilated pupil leading to posterior synechiae after pkp in the second eye. conclusion : this case shows an intrinsic susceptibility for u-z syndrome which alerts surgeons in the case of second eye surgery. iranian journal of ophthalmology 201224(2):72-74 © 2012 by the iranian society of ophthalmology

Glaucoma after penetrating keratoplasty
Penetrating keratoplasty is a surgical intervention that despite the progress of surgical techniques and of postoperative treatment continues to have numerous complications. Many of them, such as graft rejection, significant astigmatism, cystoid macular edema, or cataract lead to important limitations of the visual function. Glaucoma is possibly the most dangerous complication following PK, lea...
متن کاملWaardenburg syndrome with a fixed dilated pupil.
An unusual case of Waardenburg syndrome associated with a detailed and fixed pupil of the lighter eye is described. Pharmacological investigations were performed to localise the site of the pupillary lesion. A lack of cholinergic reactivity was demonstrated, possibly due to congenital agenesis of the sphincter pupillae. Sympathetic activity was not impaired. Spiral ganglion agenesis and midline...
متن کاملGlaucoma Escalation after Penetrating Keratoplasty
Purpose: Glaucoma following penetrating keratoplasty (PK) continues to be a serious problem that may ultimately become sight threatening. Knowledge of the risk factors for development of glaucoma following PK, such as preexisting glaucoma, pseudophakia, aphakia, and previous PK, can limit the occurrence and improve the outcome of the keratoplasty. The management of postkeratoplasty (Post-PK) gl...

متن کاملEndothelial keratoplasty versus repeat penetrating keratoplasty after failed penetrating keratoplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis
OBJECTIVE This study sought to compare graft survival, graft rejection and the visual acuity outcome of endothelial keratoplasty (EK) with repeat penetrating keratoplasty (PK) after failed PK. METHODS A systematic literature search with subsequent screening of the identified articles was conducted to obtain potentially eligible randomized clinical trials (RCTs) and comparative cohort studies....
